ALLENMORE

ALLENMORE
played with Brett, Mom and reluctant Emma at first...chhipped in for bird on first hole..plenty of trees in heart of Tacoma.

AUBURN

AUBURN
(need description)

BROOKDALE

BROOKDALE
The only course within 30 minutes of my house I never played with Dad. Its a mediocre course with a couple interesting holes. Good course for the money. Neat old-school clubhouse with a flat open putting green I spent some hours on in college and in the later Puyallup years. Best score: 74.

CHAMBER'S BAY

CHAMBER'S BAY
It will be the home of the next US Open (2015) just after moving away :(. I got to play the course with Dad and Mac and Scott Pantaleo and Brad Maxa at two different times just before moving. Thankful for that. 92 and 86. That's one tough, memorable, golf-as-it-was-meant-to-be links style course. Also the park nearby a favorite of our family for beaching, kiting, and playing.

CLASSIC

CLASSIC
Wonderful course with many interesting holes on both sides. Four of the best par 5’s in the area. Played Number of times with Brett when in town...Mac's hole #8 with rock on right...oops! Dad’s walk off #16 with Brett…another oops! Brett on #13 during the 2001 earthquake, and kept playing without checking in at home…biggest oops of all. Brett played nine holes with Ryan Moore when Ryan was a Senior in High School. A treat. He shot one over from the black tees, and having an off day (Who is this guy!?)

DRUID'S GLEN

DRUID'S GLEN
Played with Brett...interesting course, very challenging, but can be wet underfoot at times. Brett played alone one day and finished in the total darkness…yet again.

ELK RUN

ELK RUN
Honestly can't remember when we played this course. A fun course though if I remember correctly.

ENUMCLAW

ENUMCLAW
Needed a birdie on the under 300 yard final par 4 to break 70. A fun course to get away from town.

FIRCREST

FIRCREST
Got to play while I was at PLU. I remember Kirby Court shooting 67 on this course, wow. Might be in my top 10 favorite courses. So nice.

FORT LEWIS (EAGLE'S PRIDE)

FORT LEWIS (EAGLE'S PRIDE)
Very tough course with many tree-lined fairways. Part of Ft. Lewis complex where I spent my Jr year in ROTC camp. Played with Brett. Chipped in for birdie on the 1st hole…last time I saw the lead. Brett finished birdie, birdie to edge Mac out when he played with him once.

FORT STEILACOOM

FORT STEILACOOM
Short nine holer. Snuck out and made sure I'd at least played it once. Also nearby is the best disc course in the area.

HAWK'S PRAIRIE (LINKS)

HAWK'S PRAIRIE (LINKS)
Interesting and challenging course in Lacey played with Brett and Mom…more wide open than the woods course.

HAWK'S PRAIRIE (WOODS)

HAWK'S PRAIRIE (WOODS)
Two great courses near Olympia...played both with Brett at separate times. Both worthwhile, scenic and challenging. Always fun...many tree-lined fairways.

HIGH CEDARS

HIGH CEDARS
Played with Brett a number of times…once a bald eagle swooshed overhead very low…spectacular...Wonderful setting among the cedars in a valley. Judd McCaffree had his wedding reception at the club...Practice range looks directly at Mt Rainier...wow!

THE HOME COURSE

THE HOME COURSE
(Desciption coming)

INDIAN SUMMER

INDIAN SUMMER
Very challenging, but very scenic too...tight fairways and good greens...played with Brett (uh, no Dad, never got to play this one actually. I guess you never take me anywhere  )

JADE GREENS

JADE GREENS
Played this short quirky nine (fun though) alone on a day off early in our West side years.

LAKE WILDERNESS

LAKE WILDERNESS
Another quirky short course (with creative shots needed). Played it a couple of times with Brian Dikeman when we were both youth directors at the two Puyallup Presbyterian churches.

LIPOMA FIRS

LIPOMA FIRS
Thousands of firs line these narrow fairways..Played with Brett and less than memorable holes. Three different nines.

OAKBROOK

OAKBROOK
June 6, 2014. Dad, Brett, Mom, Judge Maxa. A perfect 72 degree day on this hidden gem that used to be private and was tucked away in a beautiful pocket in Lakewood not far from Chamber's Bay through groves of old oak trees. Dad has two amazing 3 woods on 9 (birdie) and 17 (not quite good enough to stay in the match). Brett 1' from hole in one on #4. Mom relaxed with a book and a salad in the restaurant during our back 9.

PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY

PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY
9 hole course where Brett would practice when he played on the college team… Brett could play for free being on the golf team, and fellow students could play for $2. Once surprised him by watching him practice for some time before he realized I was there. Brett: Wendy walks off course on #7 because I told her not to walk on the hole, almost did us in. Some good eagle chance par fours. NO LONGER EXISTS, making room for housing.

RIVER BEND

RIVER BEND
Played with Brett..Fairly flat but interesting, especially 18 along the river…Font nine most interesting (Brett thinks back 9 more interesting).

SPANAWAY LAKE

SPANAWAY LAKE
Pitch and putt course (just kidding), Brett shot his first of many sub 70 rounds (69) on this course (needed a birdie on the final and got it). Many trees and narrow, but very good finishing holes.

SUMNER MEADOWS

SUMNER MEADOWS
Played this course with Brett in early morning fog..Denny Sevier also with us. Brett played well, but strayed right on No. 18..Links style and flat but a good play. NO LONGER EXISTS, sold for housing, sadly.

TACOMA COUNTRY CLUB

TACOMA COUNTRY CLUB
Played this course with Brett and Fred Weedon... Wonderful old course with many pine tress on every fairway. Brett got to play on some other occasions while at PLU. Reportedly the oldest course west of Mississippi. I have my doubts.

TANWAX GREENS

TANWAX GREENS
Nine hole course in Spanaway with interesting boulders, creeks, and deadwood snags crossing through. Fun morning out with Dad.

TAPPS ISLAND

TAPPS ISLAND
Played early morning with Brett. Fun course with lots of water. Several holes had to lay up and then flip a shot to the green. Also where we all played before Judd’s wedding when they were over.

TAYLOR CREEK

TAYLOR CREEK
A fun nine holer on Highway 18 with some interesting short par 4s. Not an easy course, though. Quaint little barn like clubhouse sits in the very center. Nice setting.

TUMWATER

TUMWATER
Fine 18 hole course that can get wet underfoot in the spring, but some great holes. Played with Brett and Dan Finney on a 3-course tour of the area.

WASHINGTON NATIONAL

WASHINGTON NATIONAL
Long course with Purple and gold everywhere...course of the UW: Didn't play well with Mac and Brett, but probably the colors threw me off?? [Brett: loved this course. I was able to overlook the colors easier. You can get a Cougar cart if you want one, Dad. Big undulating greens, wide beautiful fairways. Fantastic layout. Always a highly rated course in Golf Digest.
